1955 and encompassing more than 454 acres, the Mt. Prospect Park
District provides outstanding recreational programs, events, parks,
facilities and services. With seven primary facilities and 27
neighborhood parks, the Park District is an integral part of a
thriving multi-generational community. District open space includes
two outdoor pools, biking and walking paths, a dog park and sizable
space for outdoor athletic programming. The District covers over 11
square miles and serves a region of over a quarter million
residents in Mount Prospect and surrounding communities. We are
searching for a part-time Pool Manager primarily for the daytime,
responsible for providing appropriate supervision and ensuring the
health and safety of patrons and staff in the aquatic facility by
preventing and responding to emergencies, adhering to state health
codes and enforcing park district rules, policies, and procedures.
The hours required for the PT Pool Manager are 5:45 am-11:15 am
(opening shift), or 11 am-4:15 pm (the midday shift), during the
week, for less than 1,000 hours annually. Weekend hours may vary.
The PT Pool Manager must be a high school graduate or equivalent
and be able to successfully pass a criminal background check. The
starting pay for the PT Pool Manager is $18.00 per hour. Plus, we
offer park district usage benefits. Requirements: ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Must be able to work either the opening shift (5:45 am-11:15 am) or
the midday shift (11 am-4:15 pm) during the week. Weekend hours may
vary. Oversee day-to-day operations of the pool, bathhouse, and
surrounding areas and equipment. This includes managing,
scheduling, training and supervision of part-time aquatic
employees. Provide direct on-site supervision of aquatic
operations, programs, classes and events. Assist in the hiring and
recruitment of candidates for part-time and contractual employment.
Supervise all performance duties and assist in periodic evaluations
of staff. Assist Aquatics Manager and Aquatics Supervisor in the
development of aquatic operations, programming, and special events.
Attend district-wide part-time staff orientations, crisis training,
and office staff training as directed. Participate in in-service
training of staff (lifeguards and swim lesson instructors).
Participate in lifeguard pre-season training. Observe and follow
all Park District safety policies and regulations. Be proficient in
all Park District policies and procedures, as well as have the
ability to enforce all state and local laws and health department
code. Perform rescues and administer proper care, treatment, and
first aid if an accident or injury occurs. Check and perform
inventory, and request and maintain all equipment and supplies
necessary to provide a safe and successful operation of the pool.
Complete daily and monthly facility reports and submit to the
Aquatics Supervisor on a timely basis. Review Lifeguard Audits with
the Aquatics Supervisor to best assist in areas of weakness and
strength amongst the department to provide feedback to the guards
and enhance training efforts. Participate in seasonal, weekly, and
daily cleaning of facilities. Maintain cleanliness of the Park
District pools by picking up litter throughout the buildings,
grounds, and facilities. SECONDARY DUTIES: Assist with special
events. Perform additional duties as assigned which may be
considered essential. All other duties as assigned by the Aquatics
Supervisor, Aquatics Manager, Superintendent of Recreation,
Director of Recreation, and/or the Executive Director. However, in
an emergency, perform all other duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a High School graduate or equivalent. Must possess three
years of aquatic experience. American Red Cross Lifeguard
Instructor certification is a plus. Must possess current
Lifeguarding and Waterpark Lifeguarding certification from the
American Red Cross or the ability to obtain an American Red Cross
Lifeguarding and Waterpark Lifeguarding certification. Must possess
and maintain CPR (Infant, Child and Adult), AED and First Aid
Certification. Must retain flexibility regarding scheduling and
hours of work. Due to the needs of the Park District, morning,
daytime, evening, weekend and holiday hours may be required.
Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the
Pool Manager position. Must be able to communicate effectively with
others for safety purposes and to allow for coordination of work.
Must be able to recognize unsafe conditions and respond
accordingly. Must be able to respond to emergency situations
quickly while understanding procedures and policies. Must be able
to lift a 150-pound person from the water. Must be able to perform
tasks that require walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing
and reaching. Must be able to stand and/or sit for long periods of
time. Must be able to swim and enter the pool at any given time.
Pool Managers are exposed to indoor and outdoor conditions,
including water, sun, high humidity, and excessive heat and cold.
May be exposed to cleaning and pool chemicals. Due to the needs of
the Park District, evening and weekend hours may be required. Your
work schedule may vary and your workweek may exceed regular hours
at times, but will be less than 1,000 hours per year. Nothing
