General Manager This position allows you to create work that matters. You will learn something new and be challenged every day while being part of an ever-growing and innovating company. The General Manager is responsible for the daily operations, strategic management and guest satisfaction for the Hotel. The General Manager will have the opportunity to generate and implement new and creative ideas. Essential duties include but are not limited to:

Implementing successful strategies to achieve hotel profitability through revenue generation, cost control, guest satisfaction, and developing employees.

Monitor the performance of the hotel through verification and analysis of guest satisfaction systems and monthly financial reports. Initiate corrective action.

Mentor a leadership team in implementing cost controls and revenue maximization

Maintain product and service quality standards that drive efficiency and high performance. Conducting ongoing evaluations and investigating complaints. Initiate corrective action.

Establish and maintain a pro-active human resource function to ensure staff motivation, training and development, wage/benefit administration

Establish and maintain applicable preventative maintenance and cleanliness programs to protect the physical assets of the hotel.

Maintain a security function to protect the assets of the hotel and the personal safety of employees and guests.

Implement/maintain two-way communication systems that cross departmental lines to reach all employees.

Must have the ability and willingness to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays and late nights.

Will be responsible for the Annual Operating Expense Budget for the Hotel.

Maintains a professional appearance and poise commensurate with the image of the hotel.

Other duties as assigned.

Reporting Relationship: The General Manager will report directly to the Senior Vice President and President.

THE CANDIDATE

Education: A Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree is preferred

Professional Qualifications & Experience:

Oversee all financial practices

Grow the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the hotel

Develop and implement a Business Plan

Develop and direct a unified team to create success within the hotel

Administer various human resources processes such as orientation and training, recruitment and selection, recognition and rewards programs, safety management and performance evaluations

Flexibility to work extended hours and on weekends

Excellent spoken and written English communication skills

Candidate must have superior problem solving kills including idea generation and problem resolution

Direct Revenue Management and work closely with the hotel brand, owners and Home office team

Experience and ability in developing strong working relationships

Prior General Manager experience strongly preferred.

Mental/Reasoning Requirements:

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills for ongoing client, dept. head, and employee communication

Must be adept at typing, and proficient in the use of various required software programs

Must have excellent attention to details, deadlines, and persistent follow-up skills

Must possess excellent problem resolution skills and ability to “think on one’s feet”

Physical Requirements:

Able to sit, stand, walk and climb stairs for extended periods of time/frequently in order to interact with clients and staff both inside and outside of the hotel

Executive Chef Full Time Position

Cooking school certificate or degree, & health dept. certification. Minimum 5 years Hotel Restaurant/Banquet culinary experience. Must have experience overseeing entire kitchen staff, possess meticulous attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and team building. Creative abilities relating to menu development and employee motivation. Solid understanding of methods for controlling food and labor costs. Ability to schedule and supervise employees with a priority toward service and maximizing employee efficiencies. Responsible for adhering to tight time deadlines, budgets, and customer specifications. Works closely with sales, banquets, and restaurant department to ensure a high quality dining experience in all F & B outlets. Fluent in English.

Must be able to work flexible shifts, including weekends & holidays.

Convention Center Care Specialist Full Time Position

Minimum 2 years of experience performing general repairs. Must be proficient with various computer controlled systems. Must possess proven skill in the use of basic tools required to make general and cosmetic repairs. Must be able to read, write and understand English fluently, have knowledge of the Convention Center’s facilities and its operations.

Must be able to work a flexible shift and possess excellent customer service skills.

Responsible for the overall upkeep of the Convention Center. Responsible for performing regularly scheduled operational inspections of the physical facility and facility systems and for making any needed repairs and /or improvements to restore the facility to its original “perfect working order” condition.

SOUS CHEF Full Time Position

2 years hotel/restaurant/banquet culinary experience required. Must be able to work a flexible shift including evenings, weekends and holidays. Culinary degree preferred.

Illinois State Food Handler Certificate, ServSafe Food Handler Certificate or Illinois State food Service Sanitation License required. Great opportunity for Culinary candidate that is energized by challenges for big and small venues alike. Our company is growing and we are looking for the right individual to join our growing team!

Line Cook Part Time Position

1 years hotel / restaurant / banquet culinary experience required. Must be able to work flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Culinary degree preferred. Illinois State Food Handler Certificate, ServSafe Food Handler Certificate or Illinois State Food Service Sanitation License required.

Restaurant Server 2 years hotel / restaurant service experience required. Must have great guest relations skills and provide service with a smile. Illinois State Food Handler Certificate, ServSafe Food Handler Certificate or Illinois State Food Service Sanitation License required.

Restaurant Busser 1 year restaurant service experience preferred. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and provide service with a smile.

Banquet Server 1 year high volume, high quality service experience preferred but will train the right person. Must portray sense of urgency. Great customer service focused attitude with a smile a must. Must be able to carry 35lbs above the shoulder and stand or walk for 8 – 10 hours per shift. Professional appearance required. Illinois State Food Handler Certificate, ServSafe Food Handler Certificate or Illinois State Food Service Sanitation License required.

Banquet Set-up Houseman Part time. Previous meeting and event set-up experience preferred.

Guest Service Agent / Hotel Front Desk Part time. 1 year customer service experience in hospitality or related field preferred. Must have great guest relations skills and provide service with a smile. Shifts vary.

Housekeeping - Various Positions Part time. 1 year related service experience preferred. Must provide service with a smile. Housekeepers/Room Cleaners, Lobby Attendants, Laundry Attendants
