the future of manufacturing. SUMMARY Plans, directs, and
coordinates manufacturing and test engineering activities to ensure
efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality production and
validation processes for the manufacturing of electronic
assemblies. This position is responsible for leading
cross-functional engineering teams to optimize manufacturing
performance, drive continuous improvement, and ensure all test and
manufacturing systems support product quality and operational
goals. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following;
other duties may be assigned. Lead and manage the manufacturing and
test engineering teams, providing guidance, mentoring, and training
to ensure the team's success and professional growth. Oversee Test
Engineering activities, ensuring all test systems, fixtures, and
procedures are developed, validated, and maintained to meet product
and customer requirements. Partner with Test Engineers to design
and implement automated test solutions that improve accuracy,
efficiency, and traceability. Drive continuous improvement
initiatives in test methodologies, measurement systems, and data
collection to enhance product quality and reduce defects. Provide
technical support to production, maintenance, and sales departments
for new business opportunities and to support NPI and the
transition of new products into production. Develop and implement
manufacturing and test processes that optimize efficiency, quality,
and safety. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including
customers, production, and quality assurance, to develop and
implement new products or processes. Monitor and analyze production
and test data to identify areas for improvement and implement
corrective actions as needed. Provide technical support and
guidance to resolve complex manufacturing or test issues,
troubleshoot problems, and optimize production output. Manage and
oversee the implementation of new equipment, technologies, and
automation systems to enhance manufacturing and test capabilities.
Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements,
and industry standards (AS9100/ISO, ITAR) to maintain a safe and
environmentally responsible work environment. Develop and manage
departmental budgets, ensuring optimal allocation of resources and
cost control. Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source and
evaluate new technologies, materials, and equipment to improve
manufacturing and testing processes. Analyze and plan workforce
utilization, space requirements, and workflow; design equipment and
workspace layouts for maximum efficiency. Ensure all machines and
test equipment receive scheduled maintenance and are repaired
promptly to minimize downtime and loss of production. Support
Facilities as required to maintain building systems, equipment, and
grounds in good operating condition. Must be adaptive and
supportive of change, with strong communication skills and a
collaborative leadership style. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages a variety of functions including Manufacturing Engineering,
Test Engineering, and Maintenance. Responsible for the overall
direction, coordination, and evaluation of these teams. Carries out
supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies
and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, and training
employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising
performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing
complaints; and resolving problems. QUALIFICATIONS Strong
leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team
toward achieving goals and objectives. Excellent problem-solving
and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to analyze complex
situations and develop effective solutions. Experience managing or
collaborating with test engineering teams to develop test
strategies, automated systems, and validation processes for
electronic assemblies. Strong analytical skills with the ability to
interpret data and metrics to drive process improvements and
optimization. Proficiency in lean manufacturing principles and
continuous improvement methodologies. Demonstrated ability to work
effectively in a cross-functional, fast-paced manufacturing
environment. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in an
Engineering discipline from a four-year college or university.
Minimum of 5 years of related engineering managerial experience,
ideally in electronics manufacturing or a related environment.
Familiar with the concepts, practices, and procedures for
manufacturing systems and test methodologies. A wide degree of
creativity and latitude is expected. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to
read, analyze, and interpret complex documents; respond effectively
to sensitive inquiries or complaints; write reports or technical
communications using clear, professional language; and make
persuasive presentations to management, customers, or public
groups. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical
concepts such as probability, statistical inference, plane and
solid geometry, and trigonometry; and apply concepts such as
fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical
manufacturing and test applications. REASONING ABILITY Ability to
define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid
conclusions; interpret an extensive variety of technical
instructions in mathematical or diagram form; and deal with both
abstract and concrete variables effectively. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The
