Job Description Job Description Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1 years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A K-12 school in Rockford, IL is seeking a Teacher of the Visually Impaired for a Contract position for the current school year (CSY). This role focuses on supporting students with visual impairments, providing specialized instructional strategies, and collaborating with educators and families to enhance student learning and independence. Responsibilities: - Design and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with visual impairments. - Conduct assessments to determine students instructional needs related to vision. - Adapt and modify curriculum materials to accommodate visual needs. - Provide direct instruction in Braille, orientation, mobility, and use of assistive technologies. - Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to ensure comprehensive support. - Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods as necessary. - Maintain records and comply with all reporting requirements. Qualifications: - Certified Teacher of the Visually Impaired. - Experience working with students from kindergarten through 12th grade. - Knowledge of Braille, assistive technologies, and specialized instructional techniques. - Strong communication and collaboration skills. - Ability to assess and adapt curriculum to meet diverse student needs.
